📚 CEU Requirement for South Carolina Licensees
All individuals licensed in South Carolina as Cosmetologists, Nail Technicians, and Estheticians must complete:
Four (4) contact hours of Board-approved continuing education focused on:
• Board laws and regulations
• Client safety
• Infection control, including sanitation and disinfection

• CE hours may be completed through a Board-approved class offered in-person or online
🪪 ID Requirements for Class Attendance
To verify your identity and professional status, please bring two forms of identification to class:
1. Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport)
2. LLR-issued professional license
• Either your pocket card or wall license is accepted
3. ONLINE WEBINAR & SELF-PACED must submit these ID's via email or WhatsApp
(WhatsApp is a secure encrypted messaging app)
ALL 3 FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION MUST MATCH (prof lic, state id and social security)
📅 License Renewal Deadline
License renewals for Cosmetologists, Estheticians, Nail Technicians, and Instructors occur every odd-numbered year.
• The renewal period ends on March 10th at 11:59 PM
❌ Cancellation Policy
No refunds are issued for cancelled registrations.
However, we’re happy to transfer your registration fee to another Beyond the Hair class—as long as your request is received before your scheduled class date.
💳 Payment Policy: Returned Checks & Stop Payments
Beyond the Hair reserves the right to charge a $30 fee for any returned checks or stop payments.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining smooth payment processing.
⏰ Attendance Policy:
To ensure you receive your full 4-hour CEU verification, punctuality is required. Late arrivals may result in extended time after class, which requires both the instructor and monitor to remain present.
Additional fees will apply for time beyond the scheduled session, and will be charged to those who arrive late.
We appreciate your respect for everyone's time and commitment to a smooth, timely experience.
📋 CEU Hours: What to Expect After Your Class
Once you complete a class, your CEU hours are submitted to USC (University of South Carolina) for official processing.
🗓 Submission Timeline
• We submit all course completions to USC every Monday, covering classes completed the previous week.
• USC then has up to 5 business days to process your hours.
📬 Certificate Delivery
• After processing, USC will mail your certificate to the address you provided on your Verification of Attendance or during online registration.
🔄 Reporting to LLR
• Once USC finalizes your hours, they are automatically exported to LLR.
• Please allow up to 30 days from your class date for your hours to appear on the LLR website.
⚠️ License Expired?
Here's What You Need to Know
If you're a Cosmetologist, Esthetician, or Nail Technician with an expired license, follow these steps to reinstate:
✅ Step 1: Complete Required CE
• You must take one (1) four-hour CE course focused on Safety and Sanitation.
• Approved CE courses are available on the State Board’s website.
✅ Step 2: Submit Your Reinstatement Application
Include the following:
• Completed Reinstatement Application
• Applicable Reinstatement Fee
• Supporting Documents, including:
• A current passport-style photo
• Your USC CE Certificate from the 4-hour Safety & Sanitation course
⏳ Important Deadline
If your license is not reinstated by the deadline set by the Board, you will be required to retake both the Practical and Theory exams to regain licensure.
🧑🏫 Instructor CEU Requirement
To maintain your instructor license, you must complete 4 hours of continuing education in a course approved by LLR/State Board.
The course must focus specifically on teaching methods
You may complete these hours online or in-person
🎓 Instructor License Reinstatement
Guidelines: If your Instructor License has expired, follow these steps to reinstate:
✅ Step 1: Complete Required CE
• You must complete one (1) four-hour CE course on Safety and Sanitation.
• Approved courses are listed on the State Board’s website.
⏳ Step 2: Meet the Board’s Deadline
• Your license must be reinstated by the deadline provided by the Board.
• Failure to do so will require you to retake both the Practical and Theory exams to regain instructor status.
🆕 First-Time License Renewal? Read This First
If you’ve been recently licensed, you may not need CEU hours for your first renewal.
Before registering for a class, please check with the State Board to confirm your specific requirements.

📂 Missing CEU Hours at LLR? Here's What to Do
If it’s been 3 weeks since your class and your hours still aren’t showing on the LLR website, follow these steps:
✅ Step 1: Check for Your USC Certificate
• If you’ve received your certificate from USC, you can upload it directly to your LLR account and proceed with your renewal.
📬 Step 2: If You Haven’t Received Your Certificate
• You can either wait a bit longer, or contact USC Continuing Education at 803.777.9440 to confirm when and where it was mailed.
🔒Replacement Certificate of hours: Important: The only certificate accepted by LLR is the one issued by USC.
Beyond the Hair cannot provide a certificate of completion.

⚠️ Disciplinary Actions & CEU Requirements
If you’ve received a disciplinary action, you are required to:
• Complete the specific CEU course recommended by the State Board
• Fulfill any associated fines or penalties

If a class is affected by inclement weather, Beyond the Hair will:
• Notify all registered participants of any delays, cancellations, or rescheduling
• Reschedule the course as soon as possible to ensure CEU compliance
• Ensure all hours are completed in alignment with Policy 104-04 requirements

💸 Refund & Tardy Policy
• All classes are nonrefundable.
• Late arrivals:
• $2 per minute fee after 10 minutes late.
• No entry if more than 30 minutes late.
• Must stay the full time to make up missed minutes.
🥪 Lunch & Breaks
• Bring your lunch/snacks.
• Breaks may not be provided during the 4-hour class.
🎓 Certificate & Credit Info
• USC, not the provider, issues CE Certificates.
• If the certificate is not received within 4 weeks, contact USC: 803-777-9440.
💻 Zoom Class Requirements
• Create a free Zoom account with your full name (no nicknames).
• Watch Zoom tutorials if unfamiliar.
• Professional license
• Driver’s license
• Last 4 digits of SSN
• Mailing address & phone number
During class:
• Stay on-screen at all times
• Mute on entry, roll call on time
• No multitasking or working
• Use chat bar or unmute to ask questions
• If sharing a device, display all names on screen
• Zoom CEU classes are equivalent to live classes.
